Engagement Photos in Chicago’s Gold Coast Neighborhood – How To

I was so excited when Jenny & Pat said they want to take engagement photos around their neighborhood: Chicago’s Gold Coast & North Ave Beach. Anytime a couple can add a more personal touch to their engagement photos, it’s going to be special.

Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood is filled with historic architecture giving you unique and symmetrical backdrops that vary in color and style. Many of the sidewalks are lined with well tended gardens and trees that give you all the greenery you could possibly ask for.

The following are great streets to walk down for engagement photos in Chicago’s Gold Coast and fall between North Avenue & Division Street:

North Ave Beach Engagement Photos

North Ave Beach is an easy walk from Gold Coast where you can find street parking within a few minutes. There is also parking at North Ave Beach for $21, up to 2 hours.

For best lighting conditions at North Ave Beach be sure not to arrive too early. If you’re there too early the sun will be harsh side-lighting on your subjects. That lighting will be much more challenging to work with. On a sunny day, arrive about 30 minutes before sunset. Then, once the sun goes down you can use the ‘blue hour’ (leftover light in the sky after sunset) to capture gorgeous photos while the city lights awaken.

Engagement Photo Outfits:

For outfits, Jenny & Pat went casual for the Gold Coast walk with blue jeans and light colored shirts. This helped them pop from all the greenery surrounding them. On the beach they went for their nicer outfit with a cute floral dress and sport coat.
