Fairlie Chicago Summer Wedding - Maddie & John

Fairlie Chicago has gorgeous ivy right outside the front door and an incredible second floor balcony overlooking the main event space. It’s a perfect take on the modern industrial wedding venue. It’s also a great space for getting ready on your wedding day! If you’ve been considering Fairlie, I’m sure you’ll love Maddie & John’s Fairlie Chicago summer wedding!

Maddie & John were initially referred to me by one of their best friends who is also a professional wedding photographer here in Chicago. They would have missed out on the green ivy at Fairlie, but their wedding got pushed from March due to the pandemic. After another few months of waiting, they were rewarded with a beautiful summer day.

Summer Portraits at Fairlie Chicago

Maddie & John’s top priority was spending time with their guests so naturally they wanted to be at cocktail hour. Usually this would mean they’d do a first look and we’d do all the portraits before the ceremony. But they didn’t want to do a first look. This meant I needed to finish all of the portraits after the ceremony in a timely manner so they wouldn’t miss all of cocktail hour!

To reduce the number of photos we needed to squeeze into that time, I did all the bridal party photos that didn’t require Maddie & John to see one another beforehand. After the ceremony we used the space immediately out Fairlie’s front door and did all the family photos, wedding party photos and couple photos!

Fairlie has two main options for outdoor backdrops: the dark wall with bright green ivy, or Fairlie’s brick exterior. I love how the backdrops pair to give you nice variety in your portraits.

With a detailed family photo list and an amazing wedding party, I wrapped up all the portrait combinations and couple photos in a timely fashion and Maddie & John got to enjoy their cocktail hour!
