River Point Park – Chicago Riverwalk Engagement Photos
The River Point Park is located where the Chicago river splits downtown. It’s off Lake street and Canal and hosts Gibson’s Italia. It’s also the home of ‘Constellation’ – a sculpture by Santiago Calatrava.
From River Point Park you can see all the way down the Chicago river to State St. This gives you one of Chicago’s best riverwalk views.
Other great views from River Point Park include the L-train and Lake street bridge. River Point Park is the best location for a photo with the L Train in the background. The park also has a sidewalk passing through an alley of trees and gorgeous landscaping. You’ll be able to get some great greenery at this location!
Lighting and features of River Point Park
With a large building on-site the sun is hidden from view early on in the afternoon. You’ll have great lighting for portraits most of the day!
I’d recommend this location for winter engagement or wedding photos because you won’t see any dead plants. If you’re there in the summer you can take advantage of the onsite greenery. Otherwise just avoid it in the winter.
