All About Engagement Sessions

when?

Plan for two hours next to sunrise or sunset for ideal lighting conditions.

Where?

Locations are up to you. Think through these ideas to narrow in on what you want in your photos: greenery, skyline, lake, urban cityscape, bars or coffee shops, or in-home.

From there, we usually pick two that are near enough for a short car ride.

Here are some popular locations:
-North Ave Beach
-The Wrigley Building and Riverwalk
-Grant Park
-Adler Planetarium
-Lincoln Park
-Garfield Park Conservatory (Permit Required)
-Art Institute South Gardens
-Montrose Harbor
-Your favorite bar or coffee-shop

what should I expect?

After we arrive and chat for a bit, I’ll give you the low-down: there’s no pressure on you to come up with any fancy poses or know what to do with your hands or where to look!

Once we start taking photos, there will be lots of walking while holding hands, kisses on the cheek, and looking at each other. You’ll be able to chat with your partner the entire time, even while I’m snapping photos. I’ll even show you a few photos on the back of the camera if you want!

When the session is over, I’d suggest going out for dinner or drinks!

When will my photos be ready?

Always within two weeks of our session.

I'm still super nervous

Take a shot beforehand to loosen up!

Can I bring my dog?

YES!! If you do include your dog in your engagement session, please bring another person along to care for the dog while we’re taking photos. That said, it’s highly encouraged as I’m a big dog-person.
